There are two equivalent routes from the Stockholm region:

1) The E4 motorway to Norrköping, then the coastal highway E22 Norrköping-Söderköping-Valdemarsvik-Västervik-Oskarshamn. About 6-8 km south of Oskarshamn take the exit toward Fliseryd and proceed to Ruda.

2) The E4 motorway to Linköping, then the inland highway E23 Linköping-Kisa-Vimmerby-Hultsfred. From there to Högsby and about 10 km along the Emå river on to Ruda.

Both alternative routes require about 4½ h driving time from Stockholm.

If coming from the south, go via Växjö or Kalmar toward Högsby.

Going from Stockholm to Högsby by train takes the same time as going by car. Change trains in Linköping. Then Högsby is on the "Kustpilen" train route Linköping-Kalmar. See train schedule.

There are buses between Högsby and Ruda, and from Kalmar or Oskarshamn to Ruda or Högsby. Please check for details at Kalmar länstrafik. (In Swedish. You may have to try Google's translate function.)
